When Baby Bites
Today Lucy was screaming through her “nap” until I gave up and came to the rescue. When we sat down to nurse, she bit me. Ow!
The weening process has been slow but biting will certainly speed things along. Maybe this is the beginning the terrible twos…I don’t know. But I do know that biting me will not be tolerated.

Custom Baby Bedding
Ok, I really like this company because they’re made in the USA and I have loved everything I have bought from there, but this is some pretty cool stuff. They now have a custom baby bedding auto-magic design thing where you can plug in your fabric and it renders a picture (yes, an actual image) of how the baby bedding would look in that fabric. It looks like you have to design an entire 4 piece crib set to make a purchase but I found it really cool for just getting ideas.
The only thing I wish it could do is give the ability to see the crib at different angles. The crib sheet has a minimal view in the image. Otherwise, it’s an amazing bit of technology.

I Quit Cloth Diapering
When I went to visit my in-laws this summer, I knew cloth diapers would not be an option. I was afraid of using the disposable diapers as they had caused diaper rash in the past. But for 3 days I figured it would be acceptable.
The visit went by without a hitch – no rashes! When we got home, I started using cloth diapers again but would mix in the disposables for “emergencies”. But cloth diapers remained the standard. And then Lucy started pre-school.
Once the day school program started (twice a week) disposables became a necessity. No day school is going to bother with the cloth mess. “Emergencies” became more frequent. Without thinking about it, I just found myself using disposables more and more often.
It has been about four months now since I have used a cloth diaper. I didn’t mean for this to happen and feel a bit of guilt about it. But lack of sleep and lifestyle choices seemed to move about and here I am using disposables. And its actually quite convenient. I love the Pampers Cruisers. And my daughter loves seeing the Sesame Street characters.

Saving Money by Sewing at Home
The economy is in the crapper but I want to take this opportunity to make more crafts and gifts instead of just buying stuff from Target. I started doing research into sewing projects and came across a Bend the Rules sewing group in Flickr which was inspired by Amy Karol‘s sewing book. I haven’t bought the book yet but in my quest to make more instead of buying more, I think this is a good place to start.
I haven’t touched a sewing machine in 10 years but I was inspired yesterday when I saw a friend’s baby wearing a cute sock monkey bib. I’m going to try that first. Sure, there are some curves in a bib, but it shouldn’t be too difficult. I looked online and found sock monkey fabric for $9.00/yard. I think it will pair well with heather brown backing or just solid brown fabric. If anyone finds it cheaper, let me know. Because if you didn’t get the message, I’m seriously pinching pennies these days.

Too Tired
So Lucy took a few steps and then she started running! I have been so tired and run-down the past few weeks I have not felt much like blogging. But I’m going to try and get started again.
Lucy now has two teeth and, oddly enough, likes to get her gums “brushed” by a little toothbrush I wear on my finger.
What else? I’m tired.
