Baby Cruising
We just got back from a visit to the in-laws. And I don’t want this post to be a gripe about my mother in-law, so I’ll just ask, “WHY CAN’T YOU REMOVE THE POISONOUS PLANTS FROM YOUR HOUSE?”. There, I asked. Really, after they lost a puppy to those plants, why are they still there?
But what I really wanted to say was that Lucy was really cruising this weekend and really enjoyed getting under the kitchen table and hanging on from above. She looked like a little monkey and was grinning from ear to ear. I think she will be walking in the next 6 weeks.
The whole concept of “letting go” is starting to take form. I have a hard time letting go and letting her fall. But I know she will learn to balance herself and break her falls without a hovering mother. But it’s still hard.

Fighting Baby Nails
Before I had a child, I always wondered how my friend’s babies ended up with a scratched face. Now I know.
And it’s not even just the self inflicted wounds, now that Lucy is determined to walk, run and fly, she can dig a scratch into me with a two second foot scramble. I try in vain to keep her finger nails and toe nails clipped. She hates that routine so it doesn’t make it any easier.
Oh, somebody tell me how to get a baby to enjoy a finger nail trim!
